Seasonal Leadership

Devotion - Seasonal leadership
“Different seasons of life call for different ways to lead.”
Most of us think about leadership as a matter of simply “getting better.” We read more, work harder, and try to improve our skills so we can lead more effectively. That’s a good pursuit, but higher levels of leadership are not just about being “better”—they’re about being more intentional.
Seasonal leadership
- learning to lead according to the season you’re in.
In the Bible, we see leaders rise up in different ways according to the times they were in.
• Joseph led by interpreting dreams and managing resources in a season of famine.
• Moses led by confronting Pharaoh in a season of deliverance.
• Nehemiah led by rebuilding walls in a season of restoration.
Each one didn’t just “lead better” they led with the wisdom required for the season God placed them in.
When business started struggling due to uncontrollable circumstances, it didn’t help me to just “smile more” or “try harder.” That season required a leader who can make hard calls, trim expenses, or reimagine strategy. At other times, when momentum is strong, the season may require a leader who can cast vision, inspire growth, and expand.
Leadership isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s discerning what kind of leader the season requires you to be.
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
